You Know How It Is

Draw

Some people claim they don't, can't or won't draw. I will wager most of these folk threw away their crayons in the classroom, sat next to someone who was 'arty'.

Go grab a pencil now and just draw something, anything.

Something happens in the moment you look at something closely enough to put it on paper. The artist's real skill isn't a steady hand. It's the discipline of actually looking. The drawing is just an artefact.

You can learn to look.

Pick up a pen. Draw something badly.

Notice how much more of it you see and draw your own conclusions.

What have you stopped looking at carefully?
